Terms of Service

Thanks for using Mealy. By creating an account or using the app, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use Mealy.

Mealy is operated as a personal project by the developer reachable at mealy.support@gmail.com (“we”, “us”). These Terms are between you and us.

1. Your account

You need an account to use most features. You agree to provide accurate information, keep your credentials secure, and let us know promptly if you suspect unauthorized use. You must be at least 13 (or 16 in the EU) to use Mealy.

2. What you can do

We grant you a personal, non-transferable, revocable license to use Mealy on devices you own or control, for your own personal, non-commercial use, subject to these Terms and the app store rules.

3. What you cannot do

You agree not to:

• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code, except as allowed by law.
• Use Mealy to harass, defame, or harm another person.
• Probe, scan, or test the vulnerability of our systems, or breach any security or authentication measures.
• Use automated means (bots, scrapers) to access Mealy.
• Use Mealy to break the law or violate someone else’s rights.

We may suspend or terminate your account if you do.

4. Your content

You retain ownership of everything you put into Mealy (meals you log, photos you attach, chat messages you send). You grant us a limited license to store and process that content to operate Mealy on your behalf - including sending your chat messages and food photos to the AI provider as described in our Privacy Policy.

You are responsible for the content you submit. Do not upload anything you do not have the right to share.

5. AI-generated content

Mealy uses AI providers (Google Gemini, OpenAI) to estimate nutrition, answer chat questions, build menus, and more. AI output can be inaccurate, incomplete, or out of date. Treat it as a starting point, not a final answer.

Health and medical disclaimer. Mealy is not a medical device and is not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always consult a qualified clinician before making changes to your diet, exercise, or medication, especially if you have a medical condition, are pregnant, or are nursing. If you think you are having a medical emergency, call your local emergency number.

6. Subscriptions and purchases

Mealy offers an optional paid subscription, Mealy Pro, which unlocks unlimited chat with Mealy and the daily and weekly menu builders. Everything else in Mealy is free, and a free daily allowance of chat messages is included with no purchase.

Billing. The price and the billing period are shown on the purchase screen in your local currency before you confirm. Payment is charged to your Apple ID or Google Play account at confirmation of purchase.

Auto-renewal. The subscription renews automatically at the same price for the same period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period.

Managing and cancelling. You can manage or cancel the subscription at any time in your App Store account settings (Settings -> your name -> Subscriptions) or in Google Play (Play Store -> Subscriptions). Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription. Cancelling stops future renewals; you keep access until the end of the period you already paid for.

Refunds. Purchases are handled by Apple and Google under their terms, and refunds are theirs to grant. If something went wrong, email mealy.support@gmail.com and we will help you sort it out with the store.

Free trials. If a free trial is ever offered, any unused portion is forfeited when you buy a subscription.

Price changes. If the price changes, the store notifies you and asks for your consent before the change takes effect on your subscription.

7. Service availability

We try to keep Mealy running, but we do not promise it will always be available, error-free, or that your data will never be lost. We recommend keeping your own notes if specific entries are important to you.

8. Account deletion

You can delete your account at any time from inside the app (You tab → Delete account). Deletion is permanent and removes your data from our database. We may also terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

9. Disclaimers

Mealy is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that Mealy will meet your requirements or that AI output will be accurate.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, revenues, data, or goodwill arising out of your use of Mealy. Our total liability for any claim arising out of or related to Mealy will not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim - and for free use, will not exceed USD 50.

Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits, in which case they apply to the maximum extent permitted.

11. Changes to the service or these Terms

We may change Mealy, these Terms, or our Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will let you know in the app or by updating the “Last updated” date on this page. Continued use after changes means you accept them.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Israel, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute will be brought in the competent courts of Tel Aviv, Israel. Nothing here limits your mandatory consumer rights under the law of your country of residence.
